How
do I add a new or additional email address to my computer?
- How
do I create and use Identities for multiple email addresses in
Outlook Express 5.x?
- Open
Outlook Express.
- Click
on File.
- Choose
Identities.
- Click
on Add New Identity.
- The
next screen will prompt you to enter an Identity name.
This name will be used to distinguish this identity from
others set up on this pc in Outlook Express.
- If
you wish to be prompted for a password before entering this
identity (where mail previously sent and received can be
viewed) place a check mark on "Require a Password."
If you do so, you will be prompted to enter the password you
wish to use to lock this identity.
- After
entering an identity name and, if desired, password, click OK.
- You
will be asked if you wish to switch to the new identity you've
just created now. Choose yes.
- The
next screen will ask if you wish to create a new mail account
or use an existing mail account.
- If
the email address for which you are creating an identity is
already set up on this computer, you may choose "Use an
existing Internet mail account," then click Next.
The correct information should already be entered on the next
few screens. Continue clicking Next until it is no
longer an option, then click Finish. You will be invited
to import your existing messages an address book.
- If
the mail address for which you are creating an identity is not
set up on this computer, you should choose "Create a new
Internet mail account," then click Next.
- You
will be prompted to enter a Display Name. The display
name is how your name will appear when other people receive
email from you. Enter your name however you would like
it to appear, then click Next.
- The
next screen asks if you would like to use an email address you
already have or sign up for a new email address. Choose
"I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to
use." Enter your email address (username@centric.net)
in the space provided, then click next.
- On
the next screen, you will be prompted to enter the names of
your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers. In both spaces,
enter mail.centric.net, then click Next.
- On
the next screen, you will be prompted to enter your Account
name and Password. Enter just your user name. (For
instance, if your username is test, enter test, not test@centric.net),
then click Next.
- On
the next screen, simply click Finish.
- Repeat
steps 1-4b as necessary to add additional identities.
- Using
Identities: The identity name of the identity currently
in use is always displayed in the upper right corner of the
screen. If you wish to switch identities, click on File,
then Switch Identity, then choose the identity you wish to
switch to and click OK.
