I
have a new computer...How do I configure it for my centric
account?
- I have a new computer with the Microsoft Window's 95, 98 or
Millennium Edition operating system
The
first screen you will see says "Welcome to the Internet
Connection Wizard." You will see three options. You should
select the one that says "I want to set up my Internet
connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area
network (LAN)." After selecting that option, click next.
The
next screen you will see asks "How do you connect to the
Internet?" You should select "I connect through a phone
line and a modem." After selecting that option, click next.
The
next screen instructs you to "Type the phone number you dial
to connect to your ISP." Enter the phone number for your
area:

Important:
You MUST remove the check mark on the option that says "Dial
using the area code and country code." To do so, click on the
check mark. After you have entered the dial-up number for your
area and removed the check mark on the "Dial using…"
option, click next.
On
the next screen, you must enter your username and password:

Be
sure to enter your Username exactly as it appears above, using no
spaces and insuring that each letter is displayed in the correct
case (small/lowercase letters or capital/uppercase/big letters).
Your Password will appear as a series of asterisks (*****). Since
you can’t see what you type here, extra care may be required. If
your password uses letters that are all lower case, insure that
your caps lock is not on. If your password includes numbers,
insure that your num lock is on.
The
next screen asks you to enter a connection name. We suggest you
enter CENTRIC.
The next screen asks if you would like to set up an Internet mail
account now. Select yes and click next.
The next screen may present 1 or 2 options. You should select
"Create a new Internet mail account." Click next.
The
next screen asks what you would like for a Display name. The
Display name is what will appear when people receive email from
you. You may enter whatever you wish here. After entering a
Display name, click next.
The
next screen asks for your E-mail address. Enter
___________________________________ and click next.
On
the next screen, at the top of the page, you will see a statement
that says "My incoming mail server is a POP3 server."
This is already correct. Change nothing. The next two lines ask
for your Incoming and Outgoing mail server. In both boxes enter
mail.centric.net (unless you have a domain name in which case you
will enter mail.__________________________.____________). After
you have completed both entries, click next.
The
next screen asks for your Account name and Password. Enter
Account
name:____________________________
Password: _______________________________
Be
sure to enter your Account name exactly as it appears above, using
no spaces and insuring that each letter is displayed in the
